Shane McDonald BSc(Hons)VNS, RVN Veterinary Nurse

Hello, I'm Shane!

I started at Bridge vets in 2016 as a Student Veterinary Nurse and graduated as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2018. I continued my studies in 2019 to achieve my BSc (Hons) in Veterinary Nursing Science at Hartpury University and began my full-time position at Bridge vets in 2019.

I am a feline friendly nurse and have multiple roles within practice from clinical nursing, clinical coaching and as an infection prevention ambassador. I really enjoy all aspects of my role and have key interests which include nurse clinics, feline nursing, surgical nursing, wildlife, exotics (especially our small mammals such as rabbits, ferrets and rodents).

One of the best parts of my role as a veterinary nurse is witnessing the human-animal bond between family and their pets. Its so special to see and always brings a smile to my face

When I am not working, I enjoy walking, baking, gardening, crafting, and caring for over 80 houseplants. I have a menagerie of pets at home, Sasha the Border Collie, Brian the cat as well as many guinea pigs, chinchillas, tortoise, budgies, fish, chickens and ducks.

I am currently undertaking the Advanced Programme Vet Nursing Small Mammals (APVN Small Mammals) module. I hope to carry out nutrition, physiotherapy and my feline nursing certificate in the future.
